(1) Status of Common Printing Dialog (Till Kamppeter)

- Schedule
  - Lars Uebernickel will start coding on 1 October
  - German government is working well w/ Canonical to share the funding

(2) Status of independent JTAPI project (Glen Petrie)

- No recent email from Jesse Atkins
  - Glen will follow up with Jesse

(3) Status of Mobile Print project (Glen Petrie)

- Glen is working on coding back-end
  - Currently using GTK (versus QT) in order to use C rather than C++
  - Changing all "fsgjt" to "opjt" for future stability

(4) Status of GSoC Foomatic project (Daniel Dressler)

- Foomatic enhancements
  - complete functionality of all C programs in Perl
  - support for SQL rather than XML to generate the database

- Schedule - coding is complete
  - coding completion was yesterday
  - major commit to Foomatic trunk yesterday
  - one more week left - performance, documentation, etc.
  - one following week for project evaluation

- Performance - list PPD files
  - XML backend - 9 seconds
  - SQLite backend - 3 seconds

- Performance - generate PPD for Xerox WC PE120
  - XML - 1.33 seconds
  - SQLite - 0.23 seconds

- Performance - using pyppd-compressed PPD archives
  - Less than a second on Till's machine
  - see Till's note today for discussion of pyppd versus SQLite usage

(5) Status of Foomatic tool (Till Kamppeter)

- Next release of Foomatic
  - Support for either XML or SQL
  - Support for compression

(7) Brainstorm new OP GSoC projects with low barriers to entry (All)

- ACTION - All - suggest new *small* GSoC projects for Open Printing
  - OPEN

- No OP security projects (Glen, Ira)
  - Products SHOULD use well-tested libraries (OpenSSL, libtpm, etc.)
  - Products SHOULD NOT use home-written security libraries

- Backends for JTAPI (Glen)
  - Simple free-standing libraries for JTAPI abstract model
  - PWG Job Ticket, MS XPS, PPD, JDF subset, etc.

- Open Printing implementation of Cloud Print?
  - Issue of GPL/LGPL for access to CUPS

- Tools to make it easier to develop OP portable drivers
  - Not many vendors have taken up the OP driver approach yet
  - Need to increase functionality in LSB to encourage printer vendors

- Tools to test print drivers and print chain (w/out a printer)
  - Facilitate regression testing for Linux distro updates
