- Roadmap to complete CPD by middle of 2011 - Work with the German government organization on funding - They asked for current proposal to stay open until end of month - Further CPD funding is still needed - Majority of current proposal cost is research and design - German government and Canonical funding would cover developers - Presentation of CPD to manufacturers in Japan in March 2011 (Till) - Maybe shift focus to libraries and PPD extensions - see below - KDE Printer Setup Tool (George) - Concern about coherence with Common Printing Dialog (George) - Python internal libraries are being comverted to C++ (Till) - CPD is designed to be the best - but this caused delays (George) - Middle 2011 will be 5 years since we planned it in Atlanta (Ira) - Long duration has hurt credibility with manufacturers (George) - CPD cannot address mobile devices with small screens - but this is already 75% of the consumer Internet device market in 2010 (Ira) - MeeGo already supports DBus (so it could use OP libraries) - Perhaps we should consider a middle step to complete CPD? (George) - Just distribute OP libraries with DBus interface? - Middle step is 2 native dialogs - KDE and Gnome? (George) - Would lose access to the Open Printing PPD extensions (Till) - But that would be OK for a middle step (George)
