README - DPA-3 FINAL TEXT

This directory contains the Draft Final Text for Part 3 of DPA (ISO/IEC 10175-3), formally referred to as:

   ISO/IEC 10175 Document Printing Application (DPA) standard
   Part 3: Management abstract service definition and procedures

The Draft International Standard version of this document was distributed to the ISO SC18 membership on a DIS ballot.  The ballot successfully passed in May, 1997, with comments 
from Japan and the U.S.  This final text version incorporates the resolution of those comments, and will be submitted to the ISO Central Secretariat by the end of March 1998, for publication 
as an International Standard.  If anyone finds problems in this draft please contact the editor.

The purpose of part 3 is to add the management operations needed by 
DPA to those abstract-operations already defined in part 1 of ISO/IEC 10175.  
The abstract-operations defined in this document are based 
on IEEE POSIX 1387.4, and are in technical alignment with Draft 9 of that 
document.

The files on this disk are in two formats, MS Word-6 and PDF 2.1, with and without revision marks.  The files are:

   dpa-3nr.doc - DPA-3 in MS Word 6 format
   dpa-3nr.pdf - DPA-3 in PDF 2.1 format
   dpa-3r.doc  - DPA-3 in MS Word 6; revision marks show changes from DIS version 
   dpa-3r.pdf  - DPA-3 in PDF 2.1; revision marks show changes from DIS version

In addition, two supporting files are included which are needed to assure that the Word 
document is properly formatted when editing:

   isodpa2.dot - dpa document template: store in your ms word template 
                 directory
   isodpa.dic  - dpa dictionary: store in your ms word main directory


Note that there is a Technical Corrigendum (TC-1) for DPA part 1 which provides additions and changes needed to align part 1 with part 3.  This TC can be found in the DPA-1-2 directory.
